Sunday services begin with coffee and cake at 10:00 am and service begins at 10:30 a.m.

April 6 "Communicating with the Conservative Right" Facilitator: Donna Waddell. This approach to communication enhances the probability of actually achieving effective communication between people who disagree. It avoids the pitfalls of the "Right/Wrong" model and permits either party to "recreate" the other in order to facilitate achievement of a common purpose.

April 13 Speaker: Gerry Barker. Topic TBA.

April 20 "Let There Be Light." A musical service with performances by members, hymns, and readings woven with the thread of "light."

On March 30th we began a month long program "Drumbeat For Darfur" with Jennie Hobson. Go to our Social Justice page to read more about this complex tragedy. During the next month we'll be focusing on Darfur during our Sunday mornning services and giving our members and friends an opportunity to contribute to the UUSC's Drumbeat For Darfur program.

Story Circle

Story Circle meets at 9:00 AM every Sunday over coffee and sweet rolls. Please join the group for interesting, lively and meaningful discussions every Sunday. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other in a smaller group and to have the time to discuss a topic of interest in more depth than we have at the end of Sunday services. Last Sunday, Story Circle discussion concluded several weeks of consideration of ethical eating with our personal resolutions. Among them were: to eat more mindfully, to seek more local food and support local gardeners and farmers markets, to pay attention to how meat is brought to market in determining to buy it or not, to buy free trade coffee and chocolate, to exercise discipline in what and when we eat, to avoid wasting food, and to participate in local food for the poor programs. We realize how ethical eating is connected to responsible consumer issues, and we intend to avoid plastic water bottles that are bad for our health and for the environment. And we would like to avoid the styrofoam cups that we have been using at church. To that end we are asking the congregation to BYOC on Sundays; Bring Your Own Cup to church, and take it home with you as well. This Sunday our discussion leader is Bob Sherrod and we will be discussing breathing. We all do it, but there is more to it than you might realize. Please join us for an hour of companionship, discussion, breathing and coffee.
